The chemical properties of wax are not active. Wax is a glossy solid at room temperature, it is more stable than oil and it is difficult to be saponified. It is not easy to be oxidized or deteriorated in air. Many customers don't know what Fischer-Tropsch wax and paraffin wax are. What's the difference between them? Let King Honor paraffin wax company explore for you.
Paraffin wax is a kind of mineral wax and also a kind of petroleum wax. It is a kind of material obtained by freezing or solvent dewaxing of petroleum fractions, then deoiling and refining. It can be divided into crude scale wax, semi-refined and fully refined paraffin wax, food grade paraffin and so on. Paraffin wax is used to manufacture candles, matches, electrical insulation materials, high fatty acids and alcohols, etc. As the resources of animal wax and plant wax become more and more scarce, most candles nowadays are made of paraffin wax. When paraffin wax is heated, it has the characteristics of melting, lighting, smoking and exothermic.
Fischer-Tropsch wax is mainly composed of straight-chain and saturated high-carbon alkanes with relative molecular weight of 500-1000. This gives the chemical fine crystal structure, high melting point, narrow melting point range, low oil content, low penetration, low mobility, low melting viscosity, hardness, wear resistance and high stability.
Compared with general polyethylene wax, Fischer-Tropsch synthetic paraffin wax differs significantly in that:
(1) Molecular weight. The molecular weight of Fischer-Tropsch wax is much lower than that of PE wax, with fewer branched chains and higher crystallinity. It is easy to penetrate into high-viscosity macromolecular chains, which can significantly reduce the melt viscosity. It has small migration in the processing process and obvious lubrication effect in the later stage.
(2) Fischer-Tropsch wax is a saturated direct paraffin with no double bond, strong antioxidant ability and good weather resistance.
(3) Viscosity of Fischer-Tropsch wax is much lower than that of PE wax, only about 10 percent. The same lubrication effect can be achieved with a small amount of use, which is only 70-80 percent of PE wax. Fischer-Tropsch wax has good compatibility with PVC and can be used as both internal and external lubricants. It can be used as a good internal lubricant to effectively control shear conditions, promote flow, control friction and melting properties, thereby improving thermal stability. At the same time, because of its high crystallinity and high linearity structure, Fischer-Tropsch wax can obtain the best physical and processing properties of PVC products. According to the need, Fischer-Tropsch process can synthesize alkanes with different chain lengths, change the molecular weight of the final product, and form a series of products.
